Save Lives: Cleaning Hands with Wipes

Each year the World Health Organization’s “SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands” global campaign spotlights the importance of hand hygiene in preventing infections.

is celebrated on May 5th, 2018 and Sani Professional® is proud to support its mission.

The Link Between Hand Hygiene & Food Safety

The spread of germs from the hands of food workers to food is a major cause of foodborne illness outbreaks in foodservice. It accounts for 89% of outbreaks in which food was contaminated by food workers. Proper handwashing can reduce germs on workers’ hands and the spread of germs from hands to food and from food to other people.1

Test your hand hygiene knowledge:

When should foodservice workers clean and sanitize hands?

  • On arrival for shift
  • Before touching food or food equipment
  • After using the restroom
  • After coughing, sneezing, smoking or eating
  • After touching dirty utensils or equipment
  • After wiping hands on an apron, uniform or body parts other than clean hands or arms
  • Prior to and after removing gloves
  • After they have handled money
  • After taking garbage out or after using a dumpster

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), when soap and water aren't readily available, the best means of cleaning and sanitizing hands is an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Sani Professional® (alchohol-based) Hands Instant Sanitizing Wipes are proven to be more effective than gels.3
